Why I Left The Office

I used to sit at a desk all day. I loved my job as an accountant. I really love numbers. Although it was a steady career, I found myself going out of my way to work extra hours at my local gym, because I knew that there, I could make a bigger impact on people. In my office I wasn’t coming into contact with the general population, I wasn’t having conversations around food and fitness. That could only be done outside of the office.

After 3 years of this, I knew I had to find a way to reach more people. There is a wealth of education available to anyone and everyone, yet people are still struggling with nutrition, grocery shopping, and finding a healthy relationship with food.

I’ve had a very long journey to get where I am. All of my knowledge was initiated by me, as an adult, out of a necessity, since I wasn’t reallllyyy taught the ins and outs of cooking healthy growing up. I was always an athlete, always on the skinny side, and never thought food mattered that much. I just ate whatever I wanted when I was hungry.

So, while working in my office over the course of 3 years, I would spend anywhere between 2-5 hours a day listening to podcasts while I worked. Podcasts about being your best self, how to start a business, and how to market. But most of my time was spent listening to experts in the health/wellness/nutrition/fitness fields - and my brain became flooded with information. It was overflowing and I just wanted to share it all! “If only people knew XYZ", I thought “then their lives would be so much better".

I implemented all of the things I learned into my own life, and then people started asking me questions. That’s when I knew it was really time to leave the office life. I was being called to serve in a different capacity. I will always love numbers, but I love people more.
